Student Awards

Our use of recognition, awards and student incentives is based on the following:

The recognition structure of the Armenian Community School includes opportunities for everyone to achieve. Obviously, not every student will be able to receive an award (i.e. Principal's Honor Award, etc.). However, recognition for accomplishment and effort is available in many areas and provides every student with the opportunity to receive his/her share of that recognition. The following are the awards currently given out each school year:

Principal's Honor Award (3.6 GPA - 4.0 GPA - "A" Average)

The Principal's Honor Award is a means of giving recognition to students based on scholastic achievement. The requirements reflect not only the student's academic achievement, but also his/her level of effort expended and citizenship. The Principal's Honor Award is given in the form of a medal.

Merit List (2.6 - 3.5 GPA "B" Average)

These Honor Awards are based on a GPA that includes the following curricular areas only:

  1. Reading
  2. Mathematics
  3. Language
  4. Spelling
  5. Phonics
  6. Social Studies or Science
  7. Science

Best Citizenship Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize those well-rounded individuals who have:

  1. The desire for self-improvement
  2. Dedication & commitment in reaching for goals
  3. Concern & service for others
  4. Willingness to be a positive role model for others
  5. Recognition for Improvement

Recognition of a child's effort and improvement is important. We recognize those students who show a significant amount of improvement during the year.

Perfect Attendance Award

Students from Kindergarten through eighth grades are eligible for this award. The "Perfect Attendance Award" is presented at the end of the year. To earn this award, a student must be in attendance every school day. Students who earn this award receive a special certificate in recognition of this accomplishment.

Principal's Armenian Studies Award

Students are awarded for exceling in these categories:

  1. Armenian Language
  2. Armenian History

Students earning this award receive special certificates and medals in recognition of achievement, based on Armenian Reading, Armenian History, Armenian Writing, creativity and effort.
