Parent Participation

The true benchmark of success for ACSF is measured by the success of its student's. The student's succeeding requires not only a committed team of teachers but rather a committed team of parent's.

Teamwork has always been and will always be a hallmark of success for ACSF. The exterior responsibilities of growing a private school are achieved under teh leadership of the Board of Director's and with the enthusuastic contibution of the parent's. Each family is required to donate ten hours per month to the school and be a member of the Parent Teacher Club. Here are a few ways you can become involved at ACS:

School Visitations

Parents are encouraged to visit the school at any time. All visitors must check in at the ACS office before going to the classroom. Visitors are also encouraged to attend any other school activity.

Back to School Night and Open House

Back to School Night as well as Open House are held in the evening and provide parents with an opportunity to visit their child's classrooms and to preview the instructional program. Back to School Night is held in Fall, and Open House is held in Spring.

Parent Volunteers

Parent volunteers are welcomed and considered necessary partners in education. Through the volunteer programs, parents may offer their services to assist either in the classrooms or the playground, in the cafeteria (when applicable) or on field trips. Each family is encouraged to volunteer at least 20 hours per year. Parents are welcome to participate in the education of their children.

Parent Volunteer Programs & Activities

Parent involvement through volunteering is an important part of our school program. Listed are some examples of activities that are open to parents:

  • Monthly lunches (fund-raising)
  • Baby sitting for PTC Meetings
  • Book Fairs (Organizing and working on Fall & Spring book fairs)
  • Work on PTC Picnic (fund-raising, set up & working booths)
  • New Year's Eve Event (fund-raiser)
  • Classroom help (with Principal's approval)
  • Help students with academics (with the approval of the Principal)
  • Publicity (help is always needed to get the word out about the school and various events. Assistance is needed with press releases, printing, and mailing - contact the Principal)
  • Various Fund-raisers (assist in the planning and implementation)
  • Field trips (drivers are always needed to transport students on various field trips)
  • Room mothers (see below)

Room Mothers

Interested mothers may participate as volunteer room mothers on a regular, rotating basis. Each classroom requires one or two. Please see the classroom teacher to make these arrangements. A room mother helps to organize classroom activities in conjunction with the teacher.

Parent Organization PTC

The A.C.S. Parents/Teachers Club (PTC) is an organization open to all parents. Every parent of an attending student is encouraged to join and support the school through this organization. A close feeling of mutuality exists between the school and the families it serves, that relates directly to the enthusiasm and accomplishments of the A.C.S. students. The P.T.C. with its many activities, is an integral part of the total school program. P.T.C. meetings are held each month at the school. The P.T.C. assists the school through supportive services, activities and funds. All parents are encouraged to join and become involved in P.T.C. activities.
